A dental bridge uses teeth adjacent to a missing tooth as anchors to support a single multi tooth restoration, that once permanently cemented, “bridges” the gap. It is basically at least 3 crowns that are fused together into a single restoration and once cemented stays in the mouth. Since flossing in between the bridged teeth cannot be accomplished, flossing under the bridge must be part of the oral hygiene routing to keep the gum tissue healthy.
At Downtown Dental, our porcelain bridges are fabricated using Cerec technology. The majority can be completed in one visit whereas some will require two visits.
Bridges can be used to:
Replace missing teeth.
Prevent drifting of adjacent or opposing teeth.
Allow for better chewing function and speech.
